Bins the Biker! ( wrote on the eve of 27th Jan. 07)
I’m quite happy today. Its as if a thousand bubbles are fizzing inside me like the contents of a thoroughly shaken cola bottle! Today, I could bring to reality,one of my desperate wishes-a wish that may be referred to as the ‘secret wish’ which many females harbour inside them..a wish to be man like or for that matter, possess “manly powers”.
Thanks to an important ‘man’ in my life, my brother, fondly called “baiyya” (a distorted form of bhaiya) I could actually RIDE A BIKE! The feeling was so empowering! One may wonder why doing “manly things” empower women. Well, I would say its not doing it for the mere sake of it, but doing it for the fulfillment of a dream.
It all started so swiftly that it wasn’t even 20 minutes into the ‘act’ that I was riding it all alone. Clutching,accelerating,braking and gleaming! I clearly remember the look on people’s faces- surprised, shocked, in disbelief, appreciative and the most amusing one was the look of ‘S.O.S’ on an aunty’s face towards whom I was approaching!
Life is a game of contrasts..If yesterday, I was feeling low and frustrated, 'today' brought a sense of achievement, triumph and pride.
